Ten Thousand Villages store comes to Picton
St. Andrew's Presbyterian church is bringing a Ten Thousand Villages franchise to Picton's main street. Ten Thousand Villages is a retail outlet founded by the Mennonite Central Committee in the 50's to provide a venue for artisans to sell their products and receive a fair price.
The store at 217 Main St. will open at the end of November for 2 weeks to host a Festival Sale. The official opening will take place in April. When we provide artisans with a fair wage for their work we ensure that they can provide schooling and health care for their families. For more information call Lynne at 613-476-1167.

We present “The Legend in Black”, accompanied by a three piece band and complete with guest appearance by June Carter Cash. Not only do they share the same birthday, Bill Cayley’s likeness in appearance and sound are phenomenal, an evening not to be missed!
- Our season wraps up on Saturday May 9, 2008, with Jennifer White, Celtic Harpist and Story Teller. Jennifer will enthrall you with her amazing talent with both words and music. A great event to bring your Mother and the whole family!

Quinte Grannies for Africa
A quick reminder about their calendar. It is still for sale and it is their major fundraiser.
One calendar will buy supplies for home-based HIV/Aids care visits or provide fees and school supplies for an orphan for a year. Two calendars will pay for garden seedlings that will produce vegetables for 6 months for a family of four. Four calendars provide a loan to a granny to start her own sustainable business or safe drinking water for her home. The cost is $20.00. To find out where to buy a calendar, please visit www.quintegrannies.ca or look for the poster in your local store window
Have a great week !
